In this article you will find instructions on how to perform calibration of the ValoJump unit.
Getting started
To access the calibration tool, log in to the settings menu from your ValoJumps touch screen, by clicking on the icon in the bottom right corner. Input your admin password and log in.
In case you do not remember your admin password, please contact support@valomotion.com.
Starting the calibration process
To start the calibration process, click on the "Run setup wizard" button, in the settings menu.
First the setup wizard will take you through calibrating the system. Calibrating the system means letting the system know where the trampoline bed is. ValoJump shows you an animated graphic of which part of the trampoline is the trampoline bed. This is the part of the trampoline that you should pay attention to in the following steps.
Checking the camera view
The system asks you to make sure that the camera can see the trampoline and that there are no objects that block it's vision to the trampoline and that there is nobody on the trampoline.
The trampoline should remain empty and nothing should block the camera's view until the setup is finished. You can see the camera image on the right side of the page.
If you have a wide trampoline (wider than 3 meters) it doesn't have to fully fit into the image. The sides of the trampoline can be outside of the camera view. If you cannot see the live view from camera, please restart your ValoJump system and try again. If you still don’t see it, please contact Valo Motion support (support@valomotion.com).
Checking the 3D image
The wizard now presents to you the image from it's 3D depth camera. This is diplayed on the left half of the screen. On the right you can see examples of what a good and a bad image look like.
- If the trampoline bed is visible, select "Yes" on in the right-side menu.
- If the trampoline bed is not visible, select "No".
If you selected "No" - The wizard instructs you to place white paper sheet on the trampoline bed, preferably in the corners of the bed (not on the padding), and a few papers on the center of the bed. The papers will help the depth sensor locate the correct position of the trampoline bed. After placing the paper sheets on the bed, perform a new scan.
Examples of good and bad calibration
This page shows you illustrated examples of how a good calibration looks like and how a bad calibration looks like.
Checking the calibration
The system will try to automatically detect the trampoline bed at first. ValoJump will present the automatically detected trampoline bed to you and ask if the automatic detection was correct.
ValoJump displays the image from its camera (top left corner) and from its 3D depth camera (middle of the screen) and asks you if the calibration was successful.
If the white grid matches the trampoline bed like in the illustrated example on the top-right of the screen, click Yes. If the white grid does not match the trampoline bed in the video view and in the 3D view then click NO.
Possible problems
The 3D image in the middle of the screen is very messy and I cannot see my trampoline on it:
Some trampoline bed materials are unfortunately incompatible with our depth sensing technology. In case you cannot see your trampoline bed properly, please place some white papers on it as described above. In these cases the automatic calibration may fail and the white grid will not match the trampoline bed well. After placing the papers, choose "No" and then "Retry the automatic calibration". If it fails again, please press "No", choose Manual Calibration and proceed to the Manual Calibration phase.
If you clicked NO:
Now you can choose to try automatic calibration again or to manually calibrate the trampoline. It is recommended to try the automatic calibration a few times before falling back to manual calibration.
Manual calibration
In Manual Calibration, you need to use the controls on the right to make the white grid match the trampoline bed. Please note that you only need to do this if the Automatic Calibration phase does not produce the desired result.
On the right you have the following options:
View:
Change between video image and 3D depth image.
Adjust:
Choose whether the X, Y and Z controls underneath move or rotate the white calibration grid.
"+" and "-" buttons next to "X" will move the white grid sideways to the left or to the right
"+" and "-" buttons next to "Y" will move the white grid up or down
"+" and "-" buttons next to "Z" will move the white grid backwards or forwards
For example: If the white grid is underneath the trampoline bed select "Move" and click "+" next to Y to move the white grid higher
Rotate:
"+" will lift the left edge up, "-" will lift the right edge up.
"+" will rotate the white grid clockwise, "-" will rotate it counter-clockwise
"+" will lift the front edge up, "-" will left the back edge up
Resize:
"+" and "-" buttons next to "X" will make the white grid narrower or wider. Please make the white grid as wide as your trampoline bed is.
"+" and "-" buttons next to "Z" will make the sides of the white grid narrower or wider.
Click DONE when you think that the white grid matches the trampoline bed to proceed to the next step.
Finishing the calibration process
The trampoline bed is now calibrated! You can now remove the white papers from the trampoline, if you used them. If you are uncertain whether you got the calibration correct or not, don't worry, you can always return to the calibration and try it again from the Admin Settings on the touch screen. Note: If the jumping is glitching or the system cannot find the player it is often a sign of incorrect calibration.
Choose the correct type of trampoline
Let the system know what type of trampoline is the system installed with. The options are either a leisure trampoline or a high performance trampoline. The system will use this information to give the best possible experience for each type of trampoline.
